Time of Day:

If shooting outdoors, early morning or late afternoon or even at sunset is best. Low tide at the beach is great for reflections in the wet sand. I know this is not always possible, so don't worry we can get you some very nice shots any time of day.

Shooting indoors, just about time of day works well. Close to a window with indirect light is very nice.

What to wear:

Group portraits: Your group's garments should be complementary, for example, all should wear informal or formal outfits. Clothing should be color coordinated, and similar in style. Solid-colored clothes, in cool or neutral shades, with long sleeves always looks good. Try to avoid high contrast clothing because the eye is drawn to the point of contrast. You should also avoid turtleneck shirts. The general rule of thumb is wear white or pastel, you gain ten pounds, wear dark or medium shades and you lose ten pounds. Formal or informal, we will probably shoot bare footed at the beach or sand dunes. Khaki and white look great at the beach. All that said, it's really up to you.
